1. We're in the middle of renovating our kitchen and ordered some kitchen wood from La Peyre and went in today to find it was not there (despite the Devis saying it would be in the store after the 11th Sept). I think they could have rang and told us it was not there yet. This is not our main problem though as a piece of wood we ordered and looked at, we did not like the look of as it did not match the colour of our units and we complained and were offered a credit note. We asked why we could not just have a refund as we do not intend to buy anything else in La Peyre as we are finished buying stuff from them and they said that they are going to ring their manager on Monday. My question is legally are we entitled to a refund (we paid half in advance and took the wood back immediately and I thought you get 14 days to return) and if they do not refund the money, do we have a legal leg to stand on?
2.
I would warn you how difficult it is to find employment, especially if you can't speak fluent French and in the current environment.
I'm in a catch 22 situation as I can't speak fluent French but don't have the relevant work experience to get a job in the UK as all the graduate training schemes and jobs have dried up in the UK and neither me or my parents can afford to live in either country and I am not sure what my options are.
3. With proctectionism over jobs, how can Brits living our here earn a living when the tourism industry has dried up. Surly not helping Brits to find jobs will make them go back to the UK and therefore impeed the countries recovery from the recession. It sounds to me that France is too strict on helping foreigners find work and Britian is too soft. No wonder the French are eager to send migrants on the first trains and boats of the day from Calais to England. Is the net result higher or lower unemployment in France than the UK as I have heard of people not getting jobs in the UK because their benefit pays more, but in France what happens if you study and when your studies have ended you cannot find a job?
4. I need an eye exam but my French is ok but not great. I could possible struggle through one out here but get muddles up with the letters of the alphabet and pronouncing my surname Reid in French. Do many examiners speak English or is it best to go to the UK for a test?
5. I would like to start my own business on eBay selling christmas cards and on the site it says you pay tax to the country you are resident in regardless of where you sell to. Is anyone on here resistered as a business on eBay and what fees do you pay and how much tax? Can you get a fine or prison if you sell items as a private individual rather than as a business? Also can tax paid on selling items on eBay count towards entitlement of a Carte Vitale as mine runs out soon?
