  1. I have a broken sagem box, and a tntsat card I renewed last January for 3 years. I use it in the uk for French tv. It is a basic box and I will try to replace it like for like, but will my card automatically work in the new box, or will I have to register it anywhere? Can I buy one in the UK or do I need wait until I can get to France? Many thanks Lyza
  2. Thank you all for your help. Sorry for the delay but am now in France - on dial up connection - another frustration. I will investigate all possibilities suggested, and thanks once again. Lyza
  3. Thanks for the advice John. You are right, when we bought the house about 10 years ago, we had a huge aerial pole which was unsightly, and we removed. We put on the small satellite dish and could receive UK tv, and initially French TV with a small internal aerial. Nothing since the wind farm.  I  think the idea of  French satellite dish might be the way to go. I don't suppose any one dish would get both French and UK signals would they? Lyza
  4. We also need a French TV aerial. Our house is in 22 near Callac. Please can anyone give me an idea of how much it will cost together with installation? I have a satellite dish (small) which receives free to air tv  but no access to French TV programmes as reception is poor and affected by the windmills. I pay for my French TV licence and want to make use of it - as cheaply as I can. Thanks in advance Lyza
  5. We have a small field on which we would like to do some archery. Just ourselves not a group. Anyone know if there are any rules etc about whether we can or not?
  6. Staying at the Ibis on a Wednesday night at Coquelles. Normally eat at the Ibis but want a change. Don't want to eat at the City, are there any small restaurants nearby which won't break the bank? Lyza
  7. Just come through this afternoon. One or two lanes closed, but no delays. I haven't been delayed for the past 6 return journeys ( since October last year). The journey out was excellent too. We can avoid peak times though, so perhaps that makes a difference. Generally we turn up and go on the next shuttle. That is using the frequent traveller tickets. Lyza
  8. Yes without doubt the service we have received as frequent travellers has been excellent. Early trains at non busy times, helpful staff when booking, quiet and efficient service. We are able to travel at non peak times so perhaps that makes a difference. Lyza
  9. We used ours for the first time over the past few days. One of the most useful things we have ever had! We avoided the crowds at the toll booths and it was worth it just for that. Thanks to all who helped us get one. Well done Alis!
  10. My white box with my Alis tag, map, jacket and instructions arrived this morning. Thanks to all who helped, just got to resist the urge to set off immediately to France to try it out! Lyza
  11. I have the form from Christine and when filling it in does 'establishment tenure du compte a debiter' mean the name of my bank in France where the direct debit will come from? I am assuming the Tenure du compte means the name of the account holder. I am getting some very strange translations through Bablefish etc. Lyza
  12. So even though I don't use the A28 I can use this ALIS thingy for all the other motorways? I went to their website and thought it was restricted to the one motorway so didn't think I could use it. We go from the Tunnel to Brittany via Rouen and Caen, and don't really use many others. Lyza
  13. Thanks very much. We will need to go shopping in the Brico when we come in April. Lyza
  14. I have been trying to understand all the jargon for satellite TV, and French TV programmes. I have searched this forum and apologies if this has already been asked but I couldn't find it. I want to receive the free satellite tv programmes from France to view in the UK.  I can use a dish, a humax satellite box and my French tv to get UK TV in France, can I buy a similar French box to bring to the UK to watch French TV in Yorkshire? If so what box should I buy in France  and where from? I don't want any of the encrypted channels (that you pay for) and I don't want to record programmes either. The magazine for What Satellite advertises packages for £250 but I have an old sky 60cm dish and hope to use that. So all I really need is the box and a wire - and of course the TV. Many thanks Lyza
  15. Well that has quashed that myth! Thanks everyone. Looks like we will keep paying. Lyza
  16. My husband reaches his 60th year this summer. Do we still have to pay our French tv licence. Who do we tell to stop the payment? Lyza
  17. Hi I know that Sennelier paints are produced in 22 and also Raphael brushes. Do they have some sort of factory outlet? If not where can I find a good selection of watercolour paints etc in Cotes d'Armor? Lyza
  18. We have just had out visit from SPANC. We have a tiny stone cottage in Brittany (100years old) with no land and a concrete fosse. I expected that we would be in real difficulties but apart from separating the grey water from the sewage, (at the moment all our water goes into the fosse) directly into the soak away and installing a grease trap through which all the grey water must go before being sent to the soakaway we have been passed. How much does a grease trap cost? Is it hard to install one? How big is it? Very grateful for any help. Lyza
