Hi- I know this is very late, but just read the threads. If you are still curious I think it might be to do with costs- even with postage it can still be cheaper ordering from the UK.

Hi, family (2 adults, 2 todlers) and 2 well-behaved dogs looking for long-term house/gite to rent in Languedoc, preferably near Perpignan, from September for 6 months or more.  Will require at least 3 bedrooms and enclosed garden/courtyard.  The let is to give us time to see if France is for us!  Thanks, Justin
